Located on the coast of northeastern Formour, the once-proud city of Argent now stands largely in ruins.
This city was beseiged by a large group of raiders known as the Marauders. The Marauders existed largely through banditry in the nearby mountains. They maintained a low profile in order to keep their numbers and true aims unknown. The Formourian military did not consider the Marauders enough of a threat to merit sending a large detachment of soldiers against them. It was only through the efforts of The Way of The Blade guild that kept the Marauders at bay & worked to uncover their secrets.
The Marauders were organized by one who had greater aims than mere banditry, Morgoth the Death Knight. The Marauders were merely one of the advance arms of his Horde. As a loosly allied group of desperados, the various bands of Marauders were able to trade information and other resources with one another and with the greater Horde. As a member of the "Crimson Order of the Knights of the Shadows," or Shadow Lords, Morgoth was able to animate a veritable army of Undead as shocktroops to attack the fine city of Argent. This advance arm marched nearly unopposed to the very gates of Argent--this is when the remainder of the Horde attacked. The Horde itself, comprised of the nearby bands of Marauders and some of the fiercest fighters in the Heldannic Confederation and Formour, destroyed the city of Argent, leaving rubble, tears, and ruined lives in its wake.
After the terrible destruction of the city of Argent, the Horde quickly left town. They had arrived overland, but took every ship in the harbor for their vile use. The entire siege and sacking of the city lasted less than one day, far less time than what was needed to send word to the nearest military base for assistance. Well-planned battles, with able-bodied raiders, have been reported ruining lives and pillaging even the largest cities since this time.
Argent was the first city to fall to the Horde. Its defenders were unprepared for the terrible power of the Horde. However, all is not lost. Armed with the knowledge gained at great cost by The Way of The Blade Guild that the Marauders are the advance arm of the Horde, and now knowing the Horde's tactics, the next city may be better prepared.
The few surviving citizens of Argent & remaining members of the guild are working to rebuild the city and their lives.
